For the third Doritos SOLID BLACK series, we collaborated with Mz. Icar, an anonymous interdisciplinary arts collective composed primarily of Black women, for the second year in a row. To create the limited edition artwork for Doritos Spicy Pineapple Jalapeno, Mz. Icar centered their concept around “thriving, meaning to grow, prosper, and flourish.”
Doritos Solid Black
A Multi-Platform Celebration of Black Creativity.
As part of SOLID BLACK®, our ongoing Doritos® initiative that supports Black innovators and changemakers, we’ve scaled our annual limited edition series into a collaboration-driven platform that amplifies Black artists.

2022
In 2022, Doritos SOLID BLACK featured holographic bags with artwork created by Mz. Icar. They explain, “This piece is a love letter saying, ‘I see you. We see you. We see us.’” We also created a comprehensive visual identity and extended it across touchpoints to a limited influencer kit inspired by the Doritos triangle.
2021
To increase awareness and get people excited about the launch of Doritos SOLID BLACK, we partnered with award-winning artist Megan Lewis to design the artwork for two limited edition Doritos bags. Lewis is known for her use of figurative imagery, and her final designs feature a vibrant palette and bold illustrations that lean into the boldness and self-expression Doritos champions.
