Quaker's 3 Minutos oat brand has been a staple in Mexico for 100 years. To celebrate a century of hearty breakfasts and say thank you to Quaker's devoted community, we created a limited edition 3 Minutos golden canister that doubles as a collectible keepsake.
The Idea
Nearly every kitchen in Mexico has at least one 3 Minutos canister in the cupboard — but there may be something other than oats inside. These containers often have second and third lives, housing sugar and coffee, serving as makeshift piggy banks, or becoming part of community art projects.
To celebrate 100 years of Quaker in Mexico, we wanted to create a keepsake canister that would acknowledge these traditions and crafts of Mexico while being a gift to every family that includes Quaker Oats as part of its daily breakfast.
The design
When Quaker launched in Mexico a century ago, the ability to cook breakfast in 3 minutes was a revelation. We tried to honor this history by emphasizing the “3 Minutos” logo that’s embossed on a sleek golden metal canister. The lettering is inspired by the work of local artisans, and the packaging is designed to be enduring, ensuring its status as a collectible keepsake.
The Outcome
The 100-year celebratory canisters were a great success, selling out across Mexico. Our team hopes that every home can enjoy the collectible containers — a heartfelt thank you from Quaker — for years to come.
