Dubai is a vibrant global crossroads of innovation, cultures and ideas, making it the ideal host for Expo 2020—a six-month global gathering that will bring together nations, communities and millions of people to inspire action and deliver real-life solutions to real-life challenges.

A celebration of creativity, innovation, human progress and collaboration, Expo 2020 Dubai will host more than 190 participating countries and an unparalleled program of global events centered on its purpose of Connecting Minds, Creating the Future, based on the belief that innovation and progress are the result of people and ideas coming together in inspiring new ways.

At PepsiCo, our role is to embrace a new vision for snacks and beverages. As Expo 2020’s Official Beverage and Snack Partner it was the perfect opportunity for our Design Team to inspire and engage people in unprecedented ways.

Critical Conversations

While formulating concepts for the Expo 2020 Limited Edition Cans, our designers questioned, “Which path will truly capture the dynamism of this exhilarating time and place?” We chose our design path by envisioning how Expo 2020’s —Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability—converged in a world of different cultures, experiences and backgrounds.

We believe that boldness encourages open-ended imagination, which is why the visually arresting artwork features abstract compositions and colorful illustrations around a stylized central figure. It is the pioneering spirit of humans that will push Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability to new heights—so humans are the center of our design. The inspired color palette symbolically animates the themes. Verdant green represents sustainability; vibrant, energetic magenta embodies mobility; yellow, a color often associated with happiness, connotes opportunity. The thought-provoking imagery has a contemporary look and feel but ultimately gives a sense of future, conveying that different people can have diverse ways of envisioning a better world. The result is a collection of compelling, visionary stories that stimulate conversation on a global scale.

A Sustainable Design with Global Impact

A commitment to sustainability and designing a better future for communities everywhere, Expo 2020 participants and UAE residents and visitors have been enjoying these 100% aluminum, fully-recyclable cans—the first of four influential engagements in this exhilarating partnership. We will also be designing three co-branded on-site activations, creating signature experiences around PepsiCo brands; rolling out two

exclusive campaigns with bold visual identities heralding the opening of Expo 2020’s doors to the world; introducing the Aquafina® Water Station—the Aquafina® sustainable hydration platform; and launching a limited-edition range of merchandise that extends the Expo 2020 Limited Edition Can designs across new, exclusive products.
